Maths Week – Dr. Maths
October 17 10:00 – 15:30 (4 x 1hr slots)
Students will get to explore randomness and ways in which maths can order the chaos around us and delve into mathematical history and discover how maths can be used to predict the future.
Four 1hour slots are available for school bookings: 10:00 – 11:00, 11:15 – 12:15, 12:30 – 13:30 and 14:30 – 15:30. Maximum capacity is 40 including teachers

Maths Week – Frances McCarthy Outreach Activities
October 18 & 19 (3 x 1hr slots)
Ticker Tape Model of the Solar System: participants will review fractions as they create their own model of the Solar System that can fit into their pocket.
A Universe of Galaxies: participants will use a model of the Milky Way and other galaxies to show relative distances to other galaxies. Uses scales, the metric system and very large numbers!
Most suited to older primary students – 4th class and up. More than one class can be involved (can be done in a school hall).
