Even in today’s world of instantaneous electronic positioning many remain curious about how we can work out where we are using the sun, moon, stars and planets. In a talk with a distinctly maritime flavour Cormac will introduce the basic principles and practice of Celestial Navigation. No batteries required!
An insight into Cormac…
Cormac began his career as a deck officer in the Merchant Navy where he learned his maritime navigation skills. Once ashore he had a varied career in business and research and in 2012 became Manager of the new Halpin Centre for Research and Innovation at the National Maritime College of Ireland. Cormac is also Deputy Director of the Irish Maritime and Energy Resource Cluster.
