Date: May 9   Time: 12:00 - 18:00

View the Transit of Mercury through solar scopes setup in our courtyard with BCO astronomers and the Cork Astronomy Club.

Watch Mercury slowly move across the face of the Sun with our solar telescopes and projections. NOTE: do not look directly at the Sun with eyes or other optical instruments.

Transits of Mercury happen a few times every century, the last one was in 2006, the next is in 2019.

This is a weather dependent event

This is a free, drop in event taking place from 12:00 – 18:00

The safest way to observe the transit of mercury is to use the projection method. NEVER look through the telescope.
