Space Camp – Training kids to be Astronauts since 2007

BCO Astronaut

Day 1: Eggstranauts

Space craft landing systems for Earth and other planets. How easy is it to land on Mars? Would you risk your life to be the first person on a new planet?  Space Campers will  seal the fate of their Eggstronauts and test the landing craft they have designed and built by launching them off the Castle. As the Campers build upon their space science skills, they’ll find inventive ways of saving the lives of the daring Eggstronauts!

Day 2: Solar System Exploration

Learn about:

ExoMars – The first mission of the ExoMars programme, scheduled to arrive at Mars in October 2016, is tasked with searching for evidence of methane and other trace atmospheric gases on the Red Planet

Juno – This spacecraft is die to arrive at Jupiter on July 4, 2016. It was launched in 2011 to understand the origin and evolution of Jupiter, look for solid planetary core, map magnetic field, measure water and ammonia in deep atmosphere, observe auroras

New Horizons –  The New Horizons mission is helping us understand worlds at the edge of our solar system by making the first reconnaissance of the dwarf planet Pluto and by venturing deeper into the distant, mysterious Kuiper Belt – a relic of solar system formation.
Day 3: Maker Day

Space Campers will learn about wearable circuit technology and design and make their own light-up badge or bracelet to take home and wear!

Day 4: Telescopes

Use a real telescope, explore optics and lenses. Visit the Observatory’s telescope and take control of TARA, our robotic telescope in another country.

Day 5: Rockets

Back to Earth for the last day of SpaceCamp as we get ready to blast off. Make a variety of rocket models before launching up up and away!
