THE EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY’S EXOMARS ARRIVES AT MARS IN OCTOBER!

ExoMars’ Schiaparelli Lander is due to (crash) land on Mars on October 19. Explore the technology and engineering of this test system in a Mars themed workshop. Suitable for upper primary students and lower second level students, we will design crash systems and use mathematics to work out how fast is safe!

Cost: €5.00/student (r.r.p. €8.50 – €3.50 per student is subsidised by Maths Week & Science Foundation Ireland)

Dr. Fernando Blasco is a mathematician and lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, interested in recreational maths and magic. He uses magic to introduce the public to topics such as prime numbers, knot theory, sudoku, topology, number systems, mind games, Rubik’s cube, calendars or quick calculations. He is absolutely convinced that if we knew more details around mathematics we would fall into discipline.

Fernando Blasco Fernando Blasco is one of Spain’s best known mathematics promoters. He collaborates with TV shows and radio programs in Spain and performs in Civic Centres, Science Museums, University Classrooms and other stages.
