Stargazing – The First Quarter Moon | 4pm – 10pm
Did you know you can see the Moon in the daytime? From 4pm – 6pm use BCO’s small scopes in the courtyard to see the mountains on the Moon.
From 6pm the Cork Astronomy Club will train your eyes skywards to view the Moon in the night sky.
Please note telescope viewing session are weather dependent. Clear skies are required to view the Moon and stars.
Explore Electricity – Family Friendly Workshop | 6pm – 8pm
Explore electricity with batteries, bulbs and more. Design and make circuits that buzz and shake. Explore the world of “Little Bits” and see if you are a “Brainbox.”
Suitable for all ages of children with their adults. MakeSpace has a capacity of 30 people, if we are very busy in the workshop there may be a delay to entry.
This is a rolling workshop, with activities for up to 30 minutes.
Dream Big | 8pm
Join us for a screening of ‘Dream Big: Engineering Our World’. Learn how engineers push the limits of ingenuity and innovation in unexpected, imaginative, and amazing ways. Produced for all ages, Dream Big, will transform how we think about engineering. From the Great Wall of China and the world’s tallest buildings to underwater robots, solar cars and smart, sustainable cities, this movie celebrates the human ingenuity behind engineering marvels big and small, and shows how engineers push the limits of innovation in unexpected and amazing ways. Early Navigation Methods | 8.15pm
In an era where satellite technology is used in virtually every aspect of our lives, the Cork Astronomy Club, will give a talk on how mariners navigated the oceans using some simple instruments such as the quadrant, cross staff and compass.
