‘Solar Eclipse’ Art Exhibition
Opens at Blackrock Castle Observatory on June 12th
A new collaborative exhibition celebrating light, creativity and cosmic wonder will open at Blackrock Castle Observatory on June 12th. Solar Eclipse brings together an exciting collection of local artists working across a wide variety of mediums, each responding in their own unique way to the upcoming solar eclipse taking place on August 12th this year.
The exhibition emerged from an open call to artists, and the response exceeded all expectations. Artists from across the region and further submitted an incredible range of ideas and interpretations inspired by the phenomenon of the solar eclipse, from its scientific and astronomical significance to its emotional symbolic and visual impact.
Featuring painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art and more, Solar Eclipse showcases the diversity and creativity of the local arts community.
Each selected artist approached the theme from a completely individual perspective, resulting in an exhibition filled with contrast, imagination , and discovery.
Every work brings its own story, mood and perspective.
The exhibition explores ideas of light and shadow, transformation, wonder and connection, and the relationship between art and the cosmos.
Visitors can expect an immersive and thought provoking experience that reflects both the beauty of celestial events and the richness of artistic interpretation.
Solar Eclipse will open on June 12th at 7pm – 9pm, in the castles art gallery and will run throughout the summer in the lead up to the eclipse on August 12th.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to connect directly with the participating artists to learn more about their work and to purchase pieces from the exhibition.
