MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory are proud to join the rest of the Dark Sky Ireland community in celebrating Dark Sky Week 2021. Dark Sky Week is a time to reflect on our night sky as an intrinsic part of our shared cultural heritage, and what steps we can take to ensure this beautiful resource is protected for generations to come.
As part of our celebrations BCO have a suite of remote activities to ensure that even as we socially isolate, we can still come together under one sky.
Some of the activities being brought to you by the BCO team include a live panel discussion on light pollution, a tutorial on how to participate in the Globe at Night citizen science project, some bite-sized Astro Challenges, and a light-pollution themed planetarium show.
Check back regularly for updates and new activities from BCO and our Dark Sky partners around the country, including the Voices For Dark Skies event hosted by Dark Skies Ireland, and featuring Dr Niall Smith of MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory.
Be sure to visit the Dark Sky Ireland webpage for even more events.
